Charlie Taylor was born and raised in the Aho community in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. He and his dad (Carl Taylor) have played with many well known musicians, such as Doc and Merle Watson, Raymond Fairchild, and has played with other various bluegrass groups.
When it comes to music, Charlie knows his way around. His mother, Mabel Gragg Taylor, played and wrote songs as well as played the guitar and sang to all 9 of Charlie's brothers and sisters. Charlie's father (Carl Taylor) also played the guitar (left handed) and sang old folk songs.
Charlie is married to Billie Jean Taylor, has 3 children and currently 6 grandchildren. He makes his home in Valle Crucis, North Carolina. He graduated from Watauga High School and made a trade/living as a carpenter
Billie Jean (BJ) Smith Taylor, was in born and raised in Valle Crucis, North Carolina. Born to Ed and Barbara Smith (natives of Watauga County) and 1st of 5 children. She grew up on a farm, helping in big gardens and large fields of tobacco.Her parents taught the principles of life, God, family, and song. It was the way of life for her.
She is of the Christian faith and a member of Clarks Creek Baptist Church, sang in the church choir, and believes and worships our lord Jesus Christ. It was her dad, Ed Smith, who inspired her in music. On Sunday mornings, she said "Mama, would get all 5 children dressed and have us sit on the couch while daddy would play the guitar and sing." The songs BJ remembers the most are " Lord Build Me A Cabin In Glory Land" and "Wildwood Flower". BJ's grandmother (Lillie Smith) played the banjo and sang old folk songs.
BJ is married to Charlie Taylor, has 3 children and currently 6 grandchildren. They have a great time in their ever growing family. Large families are close families.
In CreekSide Grass: BJ sings Alto/Tenor. Presently acting as manager, booking agent, and over sees the band. She sometimes will blow the MoonShine Jug, like ol' Briscoe Darlin.
Tim Lewis lives in Mouth of Wilson, NC with his wife. Tim is no stranger to the bluegrass world of music. Tim is a pro when it comes to his banjo playing. He has played with many musicians and groups, such as Big Country Band where he was in the road and shared the stage with top well known musicians. Tim has played at numerous festivals as well as conventions, entering in competitions.
Dwayne Eller lives in Miller's Creek, NC with his wife. He plays mandolin, guitar, Dobro and is a lead singer. Dwayne was brought up in music playing with his family throughout the Wilkesboro area of North Carolina. He has played with the likes of Bobby Osborne and Josh Graves at the Station's Inn in Nashville TN. along with numerous other bands during his career.
